Dreams
"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." -Walt Disney
Reflection-
This quotation means that it is possible to have dreams while you are awake and that they can be in your reach if you just have the strength to go after them. They are the goals we set for each other in a day to day life and the only way they will come true if we do the actions necessary to make them come true.

Connections-

"Long live the walls we crashed through
how the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming long live all the magic we made
and bring on all the pretenders
I'm not afraid
long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
I was screaming long live the look on your face
and bring on all the pretenders
one day we will be remembered"
These lyrics are from Taylor Swift's song Long Live, they relate to the quote by Walt Disney because Taylor wrote this song about all the people who helped her to fulfil her dreams. They are an important part of her dream. Now she is living it because she used perseverance and worked hard for what she has accomplished.

The second text I can relate this quotation to is in Harry Potter. Throughout all the books he has a goal to stop Voldemort from taking over the wizarding world. In these books he shows the steps of courage he takes to finally overcome the battles he faced to finally live his dream where there is no more fighting.

The third text I can relate this quotation to is the movie A Cinderella Story. Within this movie Sam, the main character, has a dream of going to Princeton University. When her stepmother tries to take everything she cares about away from her she becomes brave enough to stand up for herself and live her dream. She had a tough life but she overcame that with the strength inside her and eventually became a student at Princeton University.
"I am a dreamer. Seriously, I'm living on another planet."
-Eva Green

Reflection- This quotation means that other than having goals in life there is another type of dreaming. The type of dreaming such as daydreaming or those dreams you have when you are asleep. These types of dreams are usually far off from what is actually going on in your life but take you away from that even for just a moment. They can take you away from reality and make you wish they were true. This could be good or bad depending on your view on the subject.

Connections-
In every Bring it On movie the beginning is always a dream. Usually the dream is totally different from what is actually going to happen. As the main characters awake from these dreams the are in a totally different place than where their dream was taking place. As if to say they are 'on a different planet.'

In the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins the main character, Katniss Everdeen finds herself dreaming while she sleeps in a tree. She dreams of being home hunting with Gale and being with her family. When she awakes from the dreams she becomes aware that that is no longer her reality and the fact that she is in fact in a life threatening situation. This could be a good thing because she can escape the madness and return to her former life in a dream for only a moment. On the other hand living in this other world she created could cause her to lose sight of her objective.

The final connection I can make to this quote is a connection to myself. During my life I have had many times where I find myself daydreaming or some call it 'zoned out.' This connects with the quote because being 'zoned out' can also be known as not being on the same planet, while daydreaming I forget about the present time and escape to a world all my own and this means I sometimes live on another planet. A planet I created for myself.

  1. Allison, A good topic choice with some excellent supports. You will have to be sure that you are able to talk about the significance of the dream states for the characters (and the texts) you select. There is a really good tv show that just started called AWAKE you might be able to use - it is on Global and can be accessed on line at:

It uses dreams really in an interesting way!
